BEACH CLUB CAFE

Life’s a beach so let’s get pissed and party….
It’s a right of passage; “You haven’t been to KL until you’ve been to Beach Club” goes its tagline. There’s not a young impressionable tourist that doesn’t stop over in KL and not ask for directions to Beach Club, and as if to cement that reputation, it was voted “Best Bar of Asia” by asiaexpat.com.
It sees plenty of local trade particularly amongst groups of guys and gals who are out on the razz for a hen or stag night or just looking for a piss up and a good time. Reminiscent of a beachside island bar, the rattan furniture, chequered table top and nipah roof aren’t unlike what you’d find on island hot spots in South East Asia, and it’s live cover band and DJs playing commercial music formula means this place is hipster-free. Any heated debates here are likely to be about who pulls or pukes first rather than glitch v dubstep.

Clientele: First timers, visiting tourists, sports enthusiasts, expats and locals in search of a wild night out Music policy: A DJ spins a mix of commercial rnb and pop.  A live band plays rock and pop classics as well as ontemporary numbers. It can get quite loud so if your ears need a break or your mouth needs some use, hit the terrace outside Drinks: It’s the standard bar fare. Named after islands like Pangkor, promotions change up, so be sure to ask the bartender Eats: To match the beach lounge bar vibe, the cuisine offered is a mixture of international and Thai cuisine, just like yo’d find on he sandy shores of holiday hotspots like Koh Samui or Pattaya.

Dress code: Dress to pull. Or not. You’ll probably pull anyway. The door however prefers you make an effort so be sure to pull your smart casual wear out of your suitcase or theme wardrobes
Cover charge: A cover charge is applied. Call ahead to find out how much and when, if you don’t want it to tap into your beer budget.

Nerovivo

Housed in a trendy bungalow in Kuala Lumpur’s Golden Triangle, Nerovivo boasts of authentic Italian dishes and champions unpretentious fine dining in vibrant surroundings. Here you will be warmly greeted by the outspoken Mr. Ivan and get totally pampered by Chef Michele, one of the best Italian Chefs in town.

Actually, Nerovivo has become a prime KL landmark for an exceptional Italian casual dining experience. With a cool ambiance, modern, stylish; and whether you’re dining al fresco along the side of the restaurant or inside surrounded by striking lilac walls, Nerovivo provides consistently high quality food and impeccable service.

Located in Bukit Ceylon, this multi-award winning Italian restaurant welcomes everyone to celebrate and indulge in the best in Italian cuisine in Kuala Lumpur.

It is an undeniably pleasant setting — one of KL’s very best spots for a romantic date.

This pork-free restaurant features a large al fresco dining deck with a wood-fired grill and pizza oven and a main dining area dotted with bold artwork by Sandra Knuyt.

This restaurant packs in the crowds, especially on weekends. It’s one of the city’s more popular Italian eateries that churn out authentic, rustic dishes from the North and South. Flavors are traditional and unpretentious; try staples such as ossobucco, pastas, lasagna, pizzas prepared in an open-air oven and delicious dolci. Meat dishes reflect the northern region’s recipes while seafood leans towards a more Sicilian cooking style.

Even if Nerovivo is located in a beautifully refurbished colonial bungalow, don’t be deceived by the sleek interior; Nero Vivo is still a truly friendly Tratorria.

The Rabbit Hole

The Rabbit Hole is built around the well-known fantasy narratives of Alice in Wonderland & the Narnia Chronicles.

The adventure into the unknown begins right from the door steps of The Rabbit Hole® into the Bamboo Forest which mainly consist of al-fresco semi fine dining and a stage for live music, comedy shows and stage performances.

As we enter the interiors of The Rabbit Hole®, one can’t help but to take notice of the floor which are made of cobble stones with piping, air-con compressors, fire hydrants, telephone booths and graffiti as detailed decorative to bring to life the concept and feel of being transported to a back alley. As we follow the rabbit deeper into The Rabbit Hole®, one will find itself within an old English lift which seemingly looks like a dead end but upon closer inspection of the walls, there lies two concealed doors. Both doors offer a time-travel opportunity, one back in time and another to the future.

The right door opens up to a world of an old English gentlemen’s club with rich exotic leather couches, chandeliers, fire place and even a secret room accessible only through a make-believe bookshelf.

The left door reveals an ultra-modernistic boutique dance club where the walls, DJ console and bar is made of 3-Dimensional Origami Art.

The adventure continues to the 1st floor of The Rabbit Hole® which is designed as a private club after a luxurious Ludus in times of Ancient Rome. It will be a classic showcase of the Roman art, architecture and culture, a first and one-of-a kind in South East Asia. This club is not open for public and is only accessible for members only. This section of The Rabbit Hole® is named Reserved.
A short flight of stairs up, one will find itself on the rooftop of The Rabbit Hole® and prepare to be bedazzled by white elegance as the whole place is designed after Santorini in Greece, well known for its white architecture and blue swimming pools. And yes, you guessed right, this section of The Rabbit Hole® named Santorini features a rooftop swimming pool with a floating DJ deck. The rooftop provides a chilling ambience like no other where one can drink or dine under the stars overlooking the busy street of Changkat.

So what exactly is The Rabbit Hole®? You have to experience it yourself, but we assure you it will be nothing short of an amazing adventure. Follow the rabbit and venture into the unknown.

Mango’s Tropical Cafe

Mango’s Tropical Café is the most happening chill out place on the most happening chill out street of KL. The theme here is set in a tropical beach atmosphere with beautiful cocktails, Jello shots and the only place in town with a live band playing every night – except Thursday where they make room for DJ playing up a sizzling R&B night. Decorated Island style, with Bamboo fixtures and wooden furniture, patrons in this place surely feel closer to the beach because the wardrobes suggest exactly that – specially the Ladies.

Fitted with one of the most amazing balconies on Changkat and a very cool pool table and dart room hidden in the back Mango’s offers one of these great amazing nights. If you get hungry during the evening or fancy a bite before entering the tropical island hide-out, fear not as they serve an excellent menu and furthermore have Flam’s right downstairs.

Now if you have never tried Flam’s, which are not Italian Pizzas, but French Flammekuechen from Alsace in France, then you just got one more reason to go. Once you try you are addicted.

Neroteca

There is nowhere like Neroteca anywhere in the city. It packs in people, energy and great flavors.

Neroteca is a non-halal restaurant and deli, specializing in authentic Italian dishes with pork. With floor-to-ceiling shelves stocked with Italian kitchen staples, the widest selection of Italian wines in Kuala Lumpur and a couple of deli cases bursting with Italian meats and cheeses, Neroteca is the closest thing to an enoteca this side of Florence.

In Italy, one often does better to stick with the pasta course and give secondi, or mains, a miss, but in Neroteca the quality is expected and very Italian. So are the Dolce (sweets).

After dessert dip into Neroteca’s selection of grappa, if you dare.
